Bupa physiotherapy and chiropractic in Bloomsbury, London
If you hold private medical insurance with Bupa, you may be able to use it for physiotherapy or chiropractic care at UK Pain Clinic, near Russell Square and Holborn. Bupa decides what your policy covers and whether treatment is pre-authorised — not the clinic — so please check with us before you book.
Using Bupa? Check with us before you book
Bupa decides what your policy covers and whether treatment is pre-authorised — the clinic does not. Please do not book until we have confirmed your pre-authorisation: send us the details by WhatsApp, WeChat or email, and once confirmed we will tell you how to book, which is usually online.
How it works with Bupa
Contact Bupa first
Ask whether physiotherapy or chiropractic is covered, whether a GP referral is needed, how many sessions are approved and whether an excess applies. Request a pre-authorisation number.
Send us your details
Message us on WhatsApp, WeChat or email with the information listed below. We check it and confirm your pre-authorisation with you.
We tell you how to book
Once your pre-authorisation is confirmed, we let you know how to book — usually online — and which appointment type to choose.
Treatment and invoicing
You attend as planned. We invoice in line with Bupa's process for your policy and you pay only any excess or amount your policy does not cover.
What the clinic does
We assess and treat you in the same way as any other patient and keep the notes your insurer may ask for. We invoice according to Bupa's process for your policy — directly where that is how your cover works, or by giving you an itemised invoice to claim back. Anything not covered is charged at our standard self-pay fees.
Frequently asked questions
Can I book online straight away with Bupa?
Please check with us before you book. Send us your Bupa membership number and pre-authorisation details by WhatsApp, WeChat or email first; once we have confirmed them we will tell you how to book, which is usually online.
Do I need a GP referral for Bupa to cover physiotherapy or chiropractic?
That depends on your policy. Some policies allow you to self-refer for musculoskeletal care, others ask for a GP referral first. Bupa can confirm what applies to you when you request pre-authorisation.
Will I have anything to pay myself?
Possibly. Your policy may have an excess, a session limit or a benefit limit, and some treatments may not be covered. Bupa will tell you what applies; any amount not covered is payable to the clinic at our standard self-pay fees.
Is focused shockwave therapy covered?
Not every policy covers shockwave therapy, and some cover it only in certain circumstances. Please ask Bupa before you book and let us know what has been authorised.
What does Bupa fee-assured mean for me?
It means the clinic has agreed to Bupa's fee arrangements for recognised treatments, so for pre-authorised care we invoice Bupa directly and you pay only any excess or shortfall your policy sets. It does not change what your policy covers — Bupa decides that.
